I am thinking of buying a delta 44. Two things,

1. Is the "short" cable that comes with it a cable that I can get elsewhere if I want a longer one, or do I have to get a replacement special from m-audio.

2.This card can record more than one track at once right, not just 4 inputs, I can designate each input to a different track in my CEP. Thats what I want. I like the delta 1010, but I also like the breakout box. Thanks

Plus, any thoughts, good or bad on the 44?

1. Not sure. Maybe M-Audio sell linger cables?

2. Yes, each input to a different track, 4 tracks at once.

I've had my 44 over a year now and it's been good to ne

I purchased a longer cable from M-Audio about 2 years ago.

A 6-footer I believe. Can be combined with the original about 9'-10'.

the cable is about 4 feet. Fine if its near the computer but it is a little short.

My 3 delta 44's rock!

My Delta 44 has been pretty good for the past 2-3 years.

I do believe MAudio has longer/extension cables available. You could always email them.

I have heard whispers of 'issues' with Delta drivers and Via chipsets, so if your mobo has a Via chipset, you might want to approach with caution...I have a Via chipset, and they play fine together, although my DAW is tweaked up the wazoo (can't even remember all the individual tweaks...). I use the latest drivers for the delta (available at their website).

Customer service for Delta is 'ok'...in the end, they did help...

I do two tracks at a time. I know I would be able to do four with the Delta, as long as my cpu/ram/computer could handle it.

Overall, the Delta works fine for my needs...much better that the onboard (sb compatible) audio on my mobo...

Happy recording
Tom

I've used a 44 for about 5 years now. . . .never a problem. (if mine craps out on me, I'm going for a 10/10 - the one with the rack-mount break-out box. You can get them for about 350 or 400 on ebay (if you're curious).
