In browsing this forum for quite sometime. I have not seen anyone mention the need to use an audio buddy with the delta 44. The manual says that you must connect your guitar or mic into the audio buddy which then connects to the break out box. Failure to do so will damage the delta 44. Is this true? Thanks

No, it's not true.
It's just their way to get you to buy another M-Audio product.

I at the moment go mic to mixer to my delta 44 ins; and from my pod xt to delta 44 ins.

Been doing that route for awhile, all is great.

So I can plug the guitar and/ or mic right into the breakout box without a mixer or pre-amp. Thanks

I'm not sure how this would work out for you, although I don't believe this will harm the Delta...

I would use some sort of a mixer or preamp.

BTW...

I do own/use a Delta 44. Where did you see this in the manual?

To plug into the Delta, you definatly need some sort of preamp, whether it be a mixer or standalone.

You don't however need an Audio Buddy, any preamp will do.

True, excepting of course IF the input you are plugging in is at line level, like the output from a POD, CD or cassette player ect.

Mic's NEED preamps to bring their output levels up to line level.
