hello! my name is mike and i know jack about computer recording!

i just got a copy of the pro tools le software and it looks really cool but i have no way to record onto it. i'd like to hav an interface that would be able to record like 6 tracks at the same time and the delta 1010lt looked like what i was looking for, would they be compatable? would it sound good? any help would be massively appreciated!
thank you so much!

Where did you get the software? You should have gotten some sort of hardware with it. Pro Tools needs this hardware in order to operate. Not just any sound card will do.

i was checking it out from a friend of mine who had it because i was thinking of getting a digi-001 but then i thought maybe i could run it with another soundcard or something which might be cheaper but i guess not! thank you very much for the reply!
your friend,
mike

So your saying you were gonna borrow this friends software without digidesigns permission?? Allright...just wanted to make that clear...

I dont think PTle software will work with anytype of "breakout box" or sound card except the digi's. You could try it. But what your gonna need to do first is...
break the digi-001's software CD into about 500 peices right? THEN...
glue them all back together using the purple tube of griptite epoxy that you get from walmart...Make sure its the dark purple stuff...not the light purple...or it wont work...
OK...
Now...take the cd and set it in the sun for an hour or two. After that take it in and let it set up for a while...then try it.
.
.
OH and then give it back to your friend.
Try it...It works:):):)

actually i was wanting to get a digi but i had used it with this friend of mine and liked it. i just thought maybe if i could just buy the software i could get a cheaper soundcard or breakout box. besides, i have a mac, i don't even think his sofware would work with my computer. just defending myself so no one thinks i'm a jerk :)
thanks!
mike

It's okay, Stereo. A lot of us here on this board pride ourselves on our jerk-dom.

Actually, I think you can still use Pro Tools Free.

Go to digi's site and they offer a free, albeit unstable, version of their software that you can use with just about any sound card.

Damn, Marty, don't you feel like the jerk, now? Sucks to be you, doesn't it? :) :) :)

I sell very expensive software (over $15k) and I think somebody would be a fool to not use a pirated version before buying. I also think somebody would be a fool to use pirated software for any real production work because it's a pain if you can't get the upgrades and tech support.

But let ye without sin cast the first stone. I'm sure marty sent his $20 check to winzip. ;)

i just got pro tools free and i enjoy it very much! thanks so much everyone! i'm goin out and getting my digi next week! it'll be well worth it! thanks everyone!
your friend,
mike
