Dear friends,
I bought an M-Audio Delta 1010lt, and for the last 2 days I've been on a one way road to frustration and disappointment. I really don't know what's up, and the manual just isn't making much sense to me, regarding how I want to use it.

I think I made a bad decision, as now that I have it, I have a bunch of questions regarding what I can and can't do, how to use it and all that.

First off, I'm a bit disappointed with the options as far as monitoring. Well, I mean, they would be grand, but I don't have studio monitors or a power amp or anything like that. So here are some of my problems. I'm using Windows 2000.

The board's soundcard is still controlling the volume . The Delta mixer panel has no effect on volume. I don't understand this....

The mic, when I can actually get it working, is very quiet, though I may just have to double check to see if the preamp is on.

Is it possible to use the delta just for the inputs, and the board's sound card for output, just until I can get some monitors and get a grip on the software's routing biz?

I'm also looking for help on how to use the inputs with adobe audition, because I tried recording today on it, and all it did was turn track 11 into a stereo track with only 1 side showing up. I noticed something about changing in the manual, but I guess I don't understand. Is any one willing to email or something to help me with all my problems? I'm really getting afraid that I blew $220. I saved all summer for this :(

Here's 20 bucks.

first things first....it has 8 analog ins and 8 analog outs....if your just trying to listen to something....run your outputs through 1 and 2. a good idea would be to get your comp to only acknowledge the 1010lt....remove the onboard audio drivers or just turn the onboard audio off in BIOS... then your computer will be forced to acknoweldge the 1010lt. yes do make sure that your mic preamp connect is set for mic and not line. you can get both the onboard audio and the 1010lt to work together but it maybe me complicated.....it may be just easier to turn the onboard audio off and have the comp only recgonize 1010lt. also make sure your mic isnt phantom powered...if thats the case then you need to go pick up a mixer that has it....or a seperate preamp that has it. go to radio shack and pick up a 2 male rca to 1/8" female to connect 1010lt outputs to your pc speakers. as for adobe audition...i have no idea

Thanks

Hey, Thanks cat.

Its a dynamic, still, I had m' bandmate order a mixer today, to use with the rcas in.

I'll try what you suggested. Anyone else with advice or anything, I'd greatly appreciate it.

...using Windows 2000...
I'm on WinXP Pro and the copy of Abelton Live Delta that came with the card.

The board's soundcard is still controlling the volume . The Delta mixer panel has no effect on volume. I don't understand this....
You need to disable the onboard soundcard. Start--->Control Panel--->System--->Hardware--->Device Manager. Find the soundcard. Disable it.

Make sure you have the latest and greatest drivers. I got my 1010LT six months ago, but the drivers were like three years old.

The mic, when I can actually get it working, is very quiet, though I may just have to double check to see if the preamp is on.
This may be related to the drivers. You wouldn't BELIEVE how many problems cleared when I installed the latest drivers.

Get the new drivers installed, though be advised you may have to jump through some hoops that are not apparent.

Don't despair. It will work.

OH YEAH!!...drivers...i installed some new ones and forgot all about it...i guess thats a good sign...just set it!...and forget it!....now where the hell is my rack of lamb

Ahhh yes. Should've known. I'll come back tomorrow with results. Thanks again!
