hey i have a yamaha emx860 mixer hooked up to my delta 1010lt sound card via ... rca cables from rec out (mixer) to input 5/6 (sound card) and i can hear the mic and the guitar out of the speakers but i can't record anything that comes out of it on to my computer...

also ... my mixer says it has phantom power 48v ... how come my condenser mic dosn't work? ... any help would be appreciated

First of all, silly question, has the 48V phantom power got one switch for all or seperate switches per channel and does the mixer input channel you're using have phantom (sometimes not all mixer inputs have phantom). Then, make sure you're using a proper balanced mic cable and not a single core type.

If your using inputs 5/6, then you have to select those inputs for the tracks in your recording software. Most will default to using inputs 1/2.

yea dude it only has one switch ... and my mic cable (one side is three pin female XLR and the other is 1/4 jack)(i aslo have an audio adapter for matching high impedance mic with 1/4 phone plug to low impedance input with XLR connector) ... iono i got it from radio shack ... lolz ... i was desprate ... i read the manual and it said all the Lo-z inputs should have phantom power when the switch is on ... and that's where i have the mic plugged in.

but i'll try changeing the inputs for the tracks ^_^ thanks

hey i took your advice ... lol i guess that little tweak was all i needed for the recording to be possible ... it's just the condenser mic issue now ... but atleast the dynamic mic i have works ... ^_^ thanks man

What's with all of the adaptors? Why didn't you just buy a Radio Shack mic cable with XLR on both ends?

You can not get Phantom Power through a 1/4 in Jack, All phantom power channels will be the XLR Inputs so you Must plug your Condenser into those Channels and have the Phantom power enabled for you to use your Condenser mics....

Cheers

Gay ass Radio shack didn't have any ... and i was desprate.. lol but i guess i'll just go try regular mic cables
