Hi all, I was wondering if you could help me out.

How do you connect a Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro to a Delta 1010?

Currently, I am going out of the 1010 input 1 --> Mackie Line IN 11-12

and

Out of the Control Room L/R --> 1010 Input 1 and 2

My Problem is that without a headphone jack or volume control on the 1010, I cannot listen to any playback (drums, metronome, guitar etc. . . ) without recording it as well. My friend tells me that I need a new soundcard with a headphone jack and volume control, but I refuse to beleive such a great soundcard (and $$$) can't function the way you would expect.

Any help?

- control room or XLR outputs to your poweramp.
- Line level or mic level instruments to inputs 1 - 4
Use the inserts as outputs to the respective inputs on the Delta.

- delta 1010 outputs 1 and 2 to line in 5/6, this is your 2 channel mix output from your recording software. Your software will have to be setup accordingly.

That should work for you even if you don't have a poweramp and are using headphones(use the headphone jack on 1202).

Hey Mad I was reading your post thought i'd give my 2 cents.
I have a 12 channel DOD mixer that I've had for about 11 years and the delta 1010.
I have outputs 1 thru 8 of the 1010 hooked into inputs 1 thru 8 of my mixer, so I can assign tracks out of my computer to any one of eight channels. Next I have the monitor and effects sends of my mixer into a patch bay . The patch bay also is connected to the 1010, but to it's 8 inputs, so I can route any signal from the mixer thru the monitor or FX send, out to the patch bay, and back to the inputs of the 1010. this allows me to listen to the output of the 1010, while mixing hands on, instead of with a mouse, up to 8 channels of audio, and record a mic , guitar or whatever I need thru the other open channels (9-12) on my mixer, sending only the signal to be recorded out the sends.
You should be able to do very similar only reverse the channels with your 1202 VLZ Pro .
I also have my Monitors (M-Audio SP5B's ) hooked up to the main L-R out, and my behringer ha4600 headphone amp hooked up to the 1/4" headphone out on my board. This gives me independant control of levels for headphones and monitors. I also have a (blech!) Alesis 3630 compressor and Alesis Nano Verb hooked into my patch bay, so I can route signals thru them for mixdown, or whatever. I also have a very bad and unstable bellari single channel tube mic pre hooked into ch3 of the 1010, for easy mic hookup. But when I want to record critical vocals, I just take my files over to my freinds studio who has a vocal booth and a similar setup.
Wow I'm really rambling now huh?
Oh well , hope this helps.
By the way, if you have channel inserts on the first four channels of the 1202 VLZ Pro, you should be able to stick a 1/4" plug halfway in and use them as direct outs to your 1010 too.
