If I get the Delta 1010, does this mean that I can now record ten input into ten separate tracks, or do these tracks have to be sent to one stereo mix? If they do have the capability of ten tracks, can I do this with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9, or do I need different software?

You can record 8 at a time to 8 seperate tracks from the analog inputs, if you want to record 10 you will need to use the 8 analog ins PLUS the stereo digital input which means that the 9th and 10th tracks would have to come from a digital source or from an additional converter.

Cakewalk should be fine.

What he said.

I used my Delta 1010 for 9 months with CW PA9 (before Sonar). Worked like a charm.

I assume you know you will need 8 preamps - or a mixer with at least 8 channels and direct outs (or inserts).

I'd like to add a question here...
can you use the extra input/outputs as a aux send to a hardware unit in conjunction with sonar?

I dont know about sonar, but I do it all the time in logic.

I use free outputs as sends and free inputs as returns

sorry, this question isn't really about 1010, but, what vox said about the digital ins made me wonder if any of you know how to set the software mixer so that I can record both analog and digital(S/PDIF) channels at the same time with Audiophile?

I have been dying to find about this, but no one seems to know so far...

Thanks

AL

A1A2 what software are you using to record?
In sonar it lists the available inputs seperately and you just asign one input per track.
I have the audiophile and do this regularly.
Also I assume you have a device with a digital output to send a signal to the spdif input?

thank god, Acidrock:

I used to use sonar until I reinstalled it and it keeps dropping out on me. I know it's not my PC's problem cuz it used to work fine with many plug-ins running..

Anyways, I sometimes track with sonar, and sometimes with vegas/acid. However, whichever software you use, can you please help me to set things up correctly?

First problem is:
I can't even set audiophile's mixer right to hear/read both S/PDIF and analog signal at the same time. It's always been an either or situation for me. Please walk me thru this part first, then we will work on the settings in Sonar. Thanks alot

I am currently using POD Pro's S/PDIF out into audiophile.

Go to mixer panel patchbay router and set both h/wout and spdif/out to monitor mixer.
Now if you have the hardware settings master clock set to external clock you need your pod on even if you are using the analog inputs as the pod will be the timing source.
As to the dropout problem have you shut off all outside programs?
What are the specs on your rig?
Are you trying to input monitor with low latency? This could be the culprit of the dropouts as only hardy rigs with 2000 or xp can handle this properly.
I run 98se and have my latency slider way up but I do'nt use input monitoring or realtime playing of softsynths.

acidrock:

First of all, i really really appreciate your help on this. However, I am not at home at this moment, so I wouldn't be able to answer your questions right now nor try out your suggestions. Plus, I think this discussion belongs somewhere else....

So, is it possible for us to discuss about this by email or programs like AIM/ICQ/MSN messenger?
Or would you prefer me starting another thread so the others can read as well?
Please send me an email, and we will go from there.

Again, thank you very much
