Delta 1010 problem

Hey,
I've had a Delta 1010 for about 1 month now. I have not really had time to sit and do some intense recording yet, but I seem to be having problems with either my soundcard or my computer. I am running Windows XP Pro edition. Everything was running fine until one day my computer decides to not recognize my soundcard while it is just sitting. It recognizes it on boot up and plays the microsoft intro music but about 2 or 3 minutes later it says there is no audio device. Sometimes it works fine, but most of the time it stops recognizing it. Anyway, I could use some help.

Might want to open your case and make sure the card is seated well in its slot.
 
My guess would be a thermal problem in the card itself.
 
No Microsoft music

You should never hear the Microsoft music at startup because you should have disabled the Microsoft audio junk. Go to Control Panel and open the "Sounds and Multimedia" icon. On the first tab (Sounds), make sure that the selected "Scheme" is "No sounds". This will turn off the Microsoft concert greeting. Click the "Audio" tab next and make sure the "preferred device" is your Delta 1010. Same goes for the "Sound Recording" and "Midi Music Playback" selections. They should all say Delta 1010. Finally, go to the "Hardware" tab and make sure your Delta 1010 is selected. Then see if you still have the problem.
 
no offense deadeye, but I am not an idiot. I only bring my problems to the forum when I can think if no other solution. I appreciate your response, but I have tried that already. Also, I know how to setup my soundcard.... just in case you were wondering. I am having with my computer screwing up, i think, not my soundcard.

Nonsense. Unless you a really crappy system, there is absolutly no reason to castrate your OS just to record audio.
