I have begun setting up my M-audio Delta 1010, but I am slightly confused about the signal flow. For the time being, I am using a Yamaha mixer for my pre's, so it seems that I should input through the mixer and then out to the 1010. Is this incorrect? Also, where should I output the signal to my monitors? From the S/PDIF on the soundcard itself? Or, from the outs on the rackmount? I havent been able to get any sound from my computer when I enable the 1010 as my default audio card. Is this caused by an improper setting or a signal flow problem?

Sorry for all the confusing questions. Thanks for any help or advice you can provide for me.

yes, plug the mixer's outputs into the inputs of the 1010.

Use the outs on the card, not spdif, unless you have a separate dac.

I have a 1010 in my system, I work it like this...

From the Delta control panel, if I'm mixing all outpurs go back to the mixer through the tape returns. The L/R outputs of my mixer go to my amp and to my monitors.

When I';m not mixing, in the delta control panel audio out 1/2 goes to monitor mixer...this pulles out all the sound from the computer to audio out 1/2, either connect them directly to your monitors or feed them back through your mixer (if you have one) to your monitors.

Any more questions just ask.

Alec.

The only outs on the card itself are spdif. So, do you mean that the outs from my mixer should go into the 1010 and then the outs on the 1010 should go right back into my mixer? And then have my monitors off of the analog outs on the mixer?

I think I'm following you guys. Thanks again.

He means the Delta breakout box when he say's "the card itself."
