delta 1010 headphone monitoring

with the omni studio i was able to monitor a stereo recording as stereo in the headphones with the phones output... the delta 1010 has 8 outputs but no specified phones output. how do i get a stereo signal?
 
do i need to take a signal from channels out 1 and 2 and then combine them?
 
That's what I have to do with my Delta 44.
it's like a three adapter set-up if you're going directly from soundcard to headphones.

Out 1] <[1/4 phono male |to| mono RCA female] adapter
Out 2] <[1/4 phono male |to| mono RCA female] adapter

then get a y cable
[dual rca mono male |to| single 1/4 stereo female]

Only two cables if you're going to a headphone amp since most have a left and right input and go stereo to the headphone out.
 
Are you using a mixer? How are you monitoring?

If you're using a mixer, run your out 1-2 from the soundcard into any two channels on the mixer. Take your main outs or tape outs and send them to your monitors. Headphone outs or aux out to your headphone amp or plug in directly.
 
ok now im really stuck. i have 2 cables coming out from 1 and 2 out on the delta. i've tried both trs and mono for those. they split into a y cord that is stereo. why then am i only getting the left channel?

i can trick it and pull the channel 1 chord out half way (but im not using trs for it), then i get stereo.... what is going on here?
 
ok, i have a mixer.

i plug out 1 into in 1 on the mixer
out 2 into in 2 on the mixer

headphones = all on the left
main outs = same thing
