delays w/ VST wrapper

Anyone experienced this exquisite agony?

I got Cakewalk's VST wrapper. It seems to work great, but . . .

NI's B4 (Hammond B3 sim) + eMagic Fender Rhodes both play/record with something like a 500millisecond delay. The worst part is they sound so good!

This problem is in Sonar 2.1/B4 v1.1 By the way, the standalone version of the B4 has controls to minimize the delay and it works fine, but these controls disappear in the wrapped version.

HELP!!!

Could be latency, no? What's your latency setting?

Do you have the same problem with DXi's??

Seems to me like you have a soundcard with ASIO-drivers. Download the new Sonar 2.2 update from www.cakewalk.com and set Sonar to use ASIO-drivers (Options -> Audio -> Advanced and select ASIO in the drop-down box).

I'm a moron (PS: good advice)

Yeah, I had set my latency very high because of many tracks/fx's getting me drop-outs. Turned it down everything sounds fine (and no increase in drop-outs, actually). There's some theory here I'm only slowing getting (re latency and generally how the internal operations of DAW applications are performed.

I'm using an Aardvark 24/96 card, same advice apply to that re ASIO drivers?

I experienced an entirely opposite thing with the VST wrapper. I think it's the first time I bought a piece of audio software that made me smile the first time I used it. I'm running Kontakt which is pretty heavy on the processor and now I'm getting 1.5 ms latency, but I set it at 2.9 ms just to be safe LOLOLOL.

Sounds like you figured it out though.

Yes, but now you set the latensy (buffer-setting) in the soundcards control panel (and I think you've already set that to a low valuse, since B4 performes good on it's own). :)
