Delayed write failed?

I have this Hitatchi 500GB harddrive that got horrible reviews on Amazon but I didn`t see this problem. Has anyone had this happen? After turning off my computer and restarting it says Delayed Write Failed the data has been lost and the I play my tracks and it sounds backwards and in peices

From what I could gather based on a Google search, it sounds like this is a rather serious power management bug in Windows XP that is specific to Oxford 911-based hard drive enclosures and certain motherboard chipsets. If you're seeing this bug, return the drive or connect the drive to a different FireWire card.

I had this error before, it was the hard drive. I replaced the drive and didn't have the problem afterwards. Sorry to hear it is happening on your Hitachi, I just bought a new 1TB Hitachi drive yesterday.

You don't specify your system or the drive interface: dgatwood is right that this tends to be an XP issue but there can be a host of issues that cause this and sometimes it can get sorted out. Try:

I`m using windows XP media edition and Presonus Audiobox USB...it seems that its only happening when I let my computer turn off with Adobe running ...oh yeah I use Adobe Audition 3...Guess I should n`t be doing that anyway
