I need a setup that can handle recording 2 or 3 tracks at a time.
I came across the Tascam US1641 USB 2.0 Audio/MIDI Interface which I heard is pretty cool but I don't think I'll be needing all those inputs, so I thought I could get something that can produce good sound quality with less inputs for less cash than the $350 for the Tascam.
I also know of the Behringer Xenyx 1204 mixer + M-audio 2496 PCI card combo (which I think can record 2 tracks at a time) but I wouldn't mind spending some more cash to get something with better preamps as I heard the ones on the Xenyx 1204 are good but not that great.
So any help would be cool I'm so new to this that I no idea how to tell how many tracks a certain mixer/interface can record at a time and such..
