I'm looking to buy a banjo (probably a 5 string - but I would consider a 4 string). I have a Dean 6 string - I bought it a couple of years ago to get a banjo tone without learning all new fingering - but the neck and intonation sucks.
I've been playing a lot of open tunings on guitar in the last year - so I think I'm ready to learn the 5 string banjo.
Anyone have any recommendations? I can't afford a Deering - and I'd prefer to stay in the $300 range (or less) - since I only need banjo on a few songs while recording.
