I think I may have touched down this road a while back, but since then I've pretty much decided to record any drum work "live" on a kit that you all have been so helpfull in getting it set up and tuned...

Having said that, I would still like to explore the option of using drum tracks to lay down some basic stuff that I can use for setting up and recording a song (I have no idea how to do this, but the idea is apealing as it seems you can get a much better sound this way(??) )

Does anyone esle use this type of a set up, and if so, where did you get your tracks from??

Thanks,
Rick

do you mean like programed drums using midi on the computer? if this is the case and sampler with a piano roll would work, like fruity loops or something like cakewalk will have a paino roll. you could get something like ns_kitfree for a better sound but since you plan on only using this for a scratch track it doenst really matter

Thanks for the reply!!

I was thinking more along the lines of Live recorded drum tracks for a more natural and authentic sound (??)

A friend of mine suggested Beta Monkey as he's used them on some of his instrumental guitar stuff. (It sounds pretty good)

I'm not really sure how to implement this into my recording set up (Cut and paste into a track???), but it seems like this would be a fairly easy set up that would yield a good sound vs. trying to mic my cheap kit as well as secure a drummer for all that time (Mic set up and recording)

Any thoughts on this??

Thanks
Rick

well alot of the midi sounds no adays are recorded wave files of real drums. if you had a program like fruity loops where you could sequence the sounds and then maybe got the free nskit(sounds good for free) would be a cheap alternative. that way you could make the drum tracks and even though they are fake they would sound real. Another option would be to use online collaboration that way there is a REAL drummer on the track.
