Howdy, folks.

I'm a relative newbie and have been mixing songs on my multimedia Creative computer speakers -- anathema, I know, to many of you. When I mix on these speakers, I -- surprise, surprise -- get really muddy results when I play the records back on my stereo.

So here are my questions:

> What are your recommendations for monitors under $200?

> Also, is it OK to hook up the monitors to the audio out jack on my sound card? Or do I need to hook them up via a stereo? (I do know, of course, about powered monitors, but won't they be pretty noisy when coupled with a computer?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Decent monitors and $200 really don't go together. I think the minimum would be more like $400-500.

I bought a pair of Alesis M1mkII a while back for $399. Very good monitors with good response. A huge improvement over the Onkyo stereo I had been using b4.

Check Ebay....... M-Audio Sp5b's can be had for 200.00 and under quite regularly.
