Death Metal amp???

I don't know much about the Peavy, but the Create Stealth has GREAT gain for all types of metal.

(The link is not my auction, it is just one I found)
 
I wouldn't expect an open back 4x10 to sound very good for death metal...but I could be wrong.

The 5150 cab would be useful, but the other 2 amps you should just ignore.

What sort of budget do you have?

$1000 and under. Not interested in a recording sound, just a killer "live" death metal sound.

Any suggestions?

I have hear good things about Crate as well, they are a lot cheaper too. Just want the best I can get for live shows!!!

For that budget I'm sure you can pick up a decent used half stack....maybe even a tube head.

I've seen used 5150's and Marshalls for >700
 
shit...i saw a 5150 2x12 combo go on ebay a while back for $800, which will totally kill any crate ever made

and since you're using it live, if the 2x12's aren't loud enough, they also have an output for an external speaker cab
 
Be Patient and look for an old 5150 head.
Id run screaming from anyone trying to sell me a crap.....oops i mean crate.

So are all 5150's the same? If someone is selling a 5150 in good condition is there anything else I would need to know or ask? Does the Marshall cab make a difference as long as it had 4X12?

Also, would I need any distortion pedal, EQ pedal, compression pedal?

Everyone in other forums seems to say that the combos are not worth it if I can get a 1/2 stack. People are scaring me away from the combos.
