Just wondering if the Dean Markley Artist Transducer Pickup is worth buying or not. Any input on this pickup?
If you are looking to record your acoustic, NOTHING comes close to a decent mic and preamp... so don't bother with ANY type of pick-up system.
If you're looking to get something for a "live" performance,
the Artist Transducer is crap... plain and simple.
I've owned some Dean Markley products over the years, and to say that thier advertisements are misleading would be the understatement of the century.
If you want a nice, sweet sound coming out of that hollow box, you're gonna have to spend a few more $$$ and get a system that has a preamp, some minimal EQ'ing capabilities, and a volume control. Otherwise, you're at the mercy of a soundman who might not give a crap about making you sound good during a "live" performance.
I just had one of these installed in
my Epiphone EJ-200 (jumbo) two days ago...

It cost me $190 (installed) and it sounds incredible!
LR Baggs stuff is great value for the money.
They're just as good as Fishman, and cost about 30% less!
The bottom line is....
Soundhole pick-ups and cheapo products like the "Artist Transducer" are going to make your guitar sound cheap and tinny. Spend your money "once", and get a system that will make you happy and satisfied, not something that'll make you sound like you're strumming a toaster.
