Deal, or No Deal?

Something I've been working on a little. I think I have too much reverb going on but I think it sounds okay. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=767544 It's "No Deal". What do you all think? Thanks.

man, you're one hell of a guitar player, and i can appreciate a unique style. i like what you're up to here.

my nits:

i agree about the reverb--those leads need to stick out more. but if you're happy with the overall tone, you may want to turn down the drum track before changing the fx and see where that gets you. the kick especially is really overwhelming.

you have some amazing lead skills that need to be showcased. the canned drums are repetitive and, frankly, only interesting for the first couple bars. perhaps that's what you're aiming for--but if the leads are going to be the star of the show, those drums have to take a back seat. (bear in mind i'm a drummer, and am somewhat biased against canned drums unless you're luke vibert or squarepusher :D)

Thanks a lot for replying. I turned the drums down quite a bit, put eq on the bass to better match with the kick and adjusted the reverb on the master. Thanks for the suggestions. I think it sounds a bit better now. I just updated the song on Soundclick if you'd like to listen.

Usually, a guitar player has the guitar too loud, not the case here...bring it out! Cool Jeff Beck style stuff. Also it just seemed to be hitting it's stride and it was over. Wicked guitar playing dude.

the 2nd version is definitely an improvement. now you need to bring everything into the same room. maybe take some of the reverb off the leads, transfer it to the drums, and throw the mix through a touch of master compression to glue it together.

the guitars are much better in terms of audibility, now they just need to move forward in the mix. meaning, the drums are alone in their pristine, digitally manufactured realm and the reverb is distancing the guitars, even while amplitude levels are probably good.

if that makes sense.

i've been on a boat drinking all day. i stand by my critique, but my delivery could probably be a bit more eloquent. sue me. :D
