So, I have my guitar hooked up to my mixer, my mixer runs to my soundcard, and I can hear what im playing through my monitors. However, the equalizer displays dont move, indicating the software is not hearing what im playing. It's not recieving the audio. Can anyone suggest a setting on my PC that perhaps I am overlooking?

Thanks...

It's Acid software, and a soundblaster card. (Waiting impatiently for my M-Audio:rolleyes:)

I still don't get what you mean by "the equalizer displays don't move."

Can you show us a screen shot?

I've never used Acid (well....), but I would imagine what you need to be monitoring is the record level for the track you're recording to. Your "equalizer display" may only work on playback of recorded material, not on a live input.

I use Acid Pro 4, and it does have meters for both input and output.

More than likely the OP hasn't selected the soundcard as his input source in record mode.

Indeed. I've used this software in a totally different configuration, but still using the line in, and the meters register both input and output. I'm pretty sure I do have the souncard selected as such, I checked that last night. I'm going to double check when I get home, but i'm 99% positive this isnt the issue....

I'd bet $20 that's it. ;) Check all the device properties/settings in the software.

It might even have options on the individual track itself where you choose the input/output. Not sure cause I've never used it.

If the meters are moving though, then I would guess it's a track-level setting, but it could also be a global setting in the preferences.

Remember there are two places to check routing assignments: one in windows for the soundblaster card (make sure line in is activated and mic in is muted) and again in the recording application itself.
