Nice. I need to find out what kind of short cuts you guys take. I couldn't even get the drum tracks down in 1.5 hours.

Nice work

Haha sounds like you had a great time doing this. Some good sounds you have and well done on this tune. You have a cool voice too.

Nice work

Thanks..

Recorded on Yamaha AW4416. Acoustic Guitar and vocal... for click. Then Pearl Drum Set miced in the usual 4 spots. Then Bass... Then Acoustic guitar.... Electric guitar (strat)..... Elec Les Paul (lead).... Two real vocals... and last but not least keyboard.

Plug in and play. 1 take of each... Compress it and burn stereo track. A little mix time would make it a lot better.... I think.
But it was pretty fun. Tomorrow it will sound different I'm sure :)

What the??....

Yeah man this is a kick ass cover...

Good job recording man....good vox too...
Drums and guits sound super cool...

Btw...I do know this one :D

I can't believe I'm actually posting this...
I'm glad you did. Man, this is an amazing amount of work to pull off in 1.5 hours. It sounds like you used my "trick" on the licks...just sit down and play it one time through and pan that mother to the right.

Again, amazing for the time spent on it. If you were gonna' change anything on it, I'd maybe pull some of the mids out of the lead guitar...it's pretty abrasive at the beginning...although it got a lot better during the late solo. You know, a gentle mid cut across the whole mix wouldn't hurt, I bet. Like a Q =.4, at 1950Hz, about 2.5 db. Sounds warmer on my machine doing that.

But fuck it...very cool.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I appreciate it very much. Pretty fun song.

HA! This was one of my favorite camp fire drinking tunes. Cool!

Thanks.... that line about being a hillbilly is on the live version. Pretty fun!

I hope you had as much fun doing this as I did listening to it. I haven`t heard it in a long long time. Great job man... :)

this is definitely good, especially for being rushed. the lead guitar is the strong point for sure... the vocals come across as being in the spirit of having a good time... not bad, but not note for note perfect either... tis a good thing. are those real drums? i hear a lot of sticks clicking. this is a very busy tune... lots of things going on, or maybe i'm wrong and it just sounds that way... either way, i have a buddy who is a big stones fan... i'm gonna let him listen to it...

I love this tune. I used to play it all the time at jams and with a weekend band. Thanks for doing it, you made my day.

Quite a production for 1.5 hours.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I think the only stick clicks were the count off??? They are live drums. I'm copying the live version of this song off the Stripped album. (At least that was the goal)

I appreciate the good words. I started out as a guitar player... the rest came along later in life.... so the guitar being the better part is normal. The vocal being the weak part is normal too. Oh well :)

 good job. I liked it a lot, and I don't have the album.

Thanks for the compliment.... when you get some time... you can check out Set My Soul Free. You'll get a kick out of that one.

Peace

Nice work man.......it really has that loose Stones 'feel'. I like the guitar sound....it sounds like that era.
It's been amazing to hear how many people can pull off a very good 1.5 and this is another example of that. Pretty amazing.

Thanks LT Bob. I've heard your stuff... and coming from you that is a big compliment. I appreciate it.

To all... the 1.5 part isn't all that amazing on this song I don't think. In my studio .... everything is patched all the time. The drum mics never move etc. I just had to set a 57 in front of the guitar cabinet. And patch a large diaphram condenser mic to sing (if you can call it that) into and record acoustic guitar. The song is just 3 chord rock n roll in D.

I've got lots of eq settings written down on paper... like for drums etc. So you just pick one.. and eq the board .... then throw a little reverb, compression and expander on it.... and burn the stereo track. Where it gets time consuming and tedious (as you guys know) is when you start doing some serious mixing, cleaning up overtones, replaying little parts, punching in and out, and all that stuff. That part to me is the not fun part. Sitting down and just playing is really fun.

The 1.5 recording was a really good idea, that did get a bunch of people off high center.
