I know that a live floor, such as wood, and a controlled ceiling is usually ideal but does it work the other way around? I have medium thickness carpet plus the floor foam. Should I leave my ceiling bare or use a cloud absorber? It is a single room used for mixing and tracking.

Never mind, I just found the answer on another related thread. In case someone else was wondering the same thing the main reason is: carpet, while it absorbs mid to high frequencies does not absorb lower frequencies. Much thicker materials such as fiberglass must be used, and since they don't work as floors, the ceiling is a better place for them.
