If I have the proper cable connections, what must I do to get the music into a file format so my CD-R can read them. Since I am getting started any additional information you may have would be concidered helpful.

thanks

Most recording SW for the PC automatically defaults to the option of .wav file encoding- what you need. What SW are you using?

I mean what SW are you using to create .wav files? The <second> recording process is the transfer of the recorded file to the CDR, handled quite well by EZ CD Creator.

The second recording from the hard drive to the cd-r I understand. It's getting the music from the receiver to the hard drive that I need step by step instructions on.
Thanks

Thank You for the information. I have downloaded cool edit demo, but the demo doesn't allow you to save files. Do you have any other ideas for free softeware downloads?

Now I have several programs for wave recording and all of the cables connected from my dish to my PC. When connected to the source to be recorded, I can hear the sound through my speakers but can't control the volume coming out of my speakers. Also I don't have enough volume on the line in and or the recording volume to get a proper recording. When I select the mic I get a high enough recording volume but of course I get any noise and a slight echo coming in through the mic. Does anyone have any suggestions ??
