My DCC (digital compact cassette) deck has finally died.

I know have to decide what to get.

Up till now I have been bouncing from DCC to VCR, pretty lame huh?

I am a virgin, in the world of mutitrack.

I do not want to go the computer recording route.

There is really no way to try out this kind of equiptment at Sam Ash, and I wouldn't even know what to look for anyway!

Should I go eight, or more tracks?

If you all could help me out with your experience, I would greatly apprreciate it!

Say less than a grand.

Homework time!

Try something like the Fostex Hard disc recorders, they're about 700 pounds for 8 tracks, about £1500 for 16 tracks.

How about burning that sucker and posting the pics?

You know, pretty soon were going to need an "Arson" forum 'round here! ;)

Buck,

That is an awesome idea, but what about the neighbors.

I burn my DCC deck, they call 911, and it's a 411 in progress.

I know that's not the right number, your'e a cop, what would the actual number be for this type of crime?

Went to Sam Ash today, looked at the decks, Yamaha was giving away free music disks demonstrating their 16 track model. I played it in my truck on the way home. It sounded OK, I have hearrd better from you guys, right here at homerec.

Is that Roland stand alone eight track, hard drive recorder still around anywhere? You know the one without mixer, or fx.

I actually got to listen to the Zoom PS-02 Palmtop Studio. This is a really neat little three track recorder. It's got drums, bass, guitar processor, and a little condensor mic built in. I ran a guitar through it, it sounded really good, although I had to use phones.

I might get one of these just for the shear fun of it!

Anyway, nothing in concrete yet. Still thinking it over.
