Our vocalist has a powerful voice that sometimes comes out a bit strong. The obvious gear solution is a compressor of course. Now I know what I would like to get if money was no object. Recent purchases have dried up the coffers somewhat and I am not sure I could justify a compressor costing over $4K

I am considering a DBX266XL for the purpose. I understand its entry level but the question is a buy/no buy type. Any advice would be appreciated

It has often been said that the most important piece of gear in a studio is the compressor. Our bass guitarist has been using the built-in compressor on the bass amp for some time now and it has worked superbly. Although I almost always use the compressor in Sonar X1 Producer's Pro Channel and previously on Sonar 4, I didnt think I would be getting a hardware compressor very soon. But the vocalist's power made it an urgent thing.

The Triple C looks really nice. How does it perform?
