I just purchased a dbx Pro Vocal Vocal Strip, mic pre, and compressor unit. Just wandering if anyone else has one and can me some tips on all it's functions. It does not give the result that I was hoping for, but I think it will be a very tool anyway if I can learn how to use it properly.

Tube Channel Strip

I have a dbx Tube Channel Strip that I did not like when I first got it. It had something to do with the quirkyness of the input and ouput control. Once I learned to control them and keep the input (actually called "Drive" on the unit) down low, I began to get a good, clear and clean signal and now I like the sound. No, it is not the world's best preamp but for me, it is quite good and with a good microphone I like the sound. So, I don't know if this is helpful but for me, once I got the idea of how to set the levels on the machine, it becamse a much better.

Odd! I was just looking at the dbx 376 and Pro Vocal Strip yesterday, wondering whether they may be viable alternatives to separate pre and compressor units.
I would be using an EV RE20 for voice, just because I like the way it makes me sound. If anyone has any thoughts on this combination, I'd love to hear about it.
