ok i have a behringer mixer ub802 and i run tape out (rca) into my sound card and can record 2 channels now i wana run compressor on the way in recording stuff how do i do this?
output of your mixer to the input of the compressor
output of the compressor to the input of your soundcard
and tell me, how do you like your DBX 282 ?
and how much did you pay for it,
i saw a second hand one for 200 EURO last week ! i bet you had a better deal, no ,
I just got a compressor today. I have basically the same type of set up more or less. What i did is run two unbalanced 1/4 connectors from the main out to the audio in. One to each channel. Then i ran two mono cables (one for each channel) with a 1/4 connector to a single rca connector to my sound card. I don't know if that is the best way but it worked for me. Another way would be to run a balanced 1/4 inch cable from the headphone jack on the mixer to one channel and run 1 balanced rca cable with a 1/4 connector to your sound car. Either way gave me the same results. The first gave me a more organized set up. Also, my compressor lets me link the channels so the settings for both channels are adjusted on one side and are identical. Sorry for the long post but it took me awhile to figure it out. I got it right the first time but a bad connect threw me off and was making me wonder why it mono when it was just the connector.

compress on the way in? I might limit on the way in, but I save compression for later, although it takes me another set of tracks to do it - i bounce thru compressor - i may also reverse the phase if i need to. I do this b/c I haven't yet found compressor settings that I like.
