Me again... :thumbs up:

Sorry guys, I've had some time lately to finally mess around with my crap and I'm just finding all sorts of oddities that are aggarvating me and apparently go stupid and scratch my head when I try to troubleshoot. Check this one out:

First off though, is the Tascam PB32 a p.o.s.? You know why I ended up getting one, was because I have Tascam gear and so I figured eh, why not. I got the R version, which is RCA only. I did that on purpose too, because I was being cheap and know I have a ton of RCA cables laying around and RCA to 1/4" adapters if I need 'em. Plus a lot of the points on the my 388 are RCA so I just went with the majority.

It took me a moronic amount of time to figure out how the patchbay works. Like I literally stood in front of it for a good 20 minutes with my tongue out. That's how stupid. So I hooked it in as a test. Started with the whole "lets see if it even works" process. I hooked up the effect send/rv to top and bottom of one set, access send/rcv to another, and then I patched my DBX 164 into it. The thing pegged out like I just ran an ear-splitting signal through it. All the LEDs shot up to max. But if I plug something into the front jacks to actually patch it in it works and the LEDs return to normal (or nothing). I'm either really stupid, really confused, or there's something wrong.

I always think of other things as I'm writing a post, but I can honestly say that if the idea is to bring the inputs and outputs to the front, then that's all I did.

I read in the manual for the 164 (yes I actually read through the manual) that if you want to operate it in mono mode, you actually need to Y-cable to the two inputs and then just use one of the channel outputs. I guess it has something to do with the way the two units are linked for stereo. But I tried this both ways.

My 164 also has what I'm guessing are dead LEDs on the second channel, as they stop functioning past the 4th or 5th LED. Either that or something else is hosed on it but it seems to be working as it should. I am patching this into the ACCESS send/rcv when I do use it. And yes, with the patchbay out of the equation, it works just fine.
