Learning, always learning
What is the difference in these two units? I've heard ALOT of good things about the 128 noise reduction unit and am looking for one to add inline to my reel to reel. I have found a 228 unit locally for pretty cheap, but I'm not familiar with it. Is it worth having?

The two units are rather similar. In fact it appears that the 228 is based on the older 128 which in turn is based on the even older 118. The 128 and 228 both offer audio expansion, DBXII noise reduction and DBX (vinyl) record decoding. The 128 also offers audio compression which the 228 does not. The 128 offers more controls with a larger range and flexibility while the 228 offers a sleeker and newer design with slightly better specs and performance. I hope this helps!
