Do standalone DAW units also have sequencers in them? Because I've downloaded a couple of manuals from the web, and I don't see it.

Or, if I buy a standalone unit, will I also have to buy a separate sequencer?

Thanks,

Mitch

Yo MBraudel:

I don't think they put sequencers in DAWS as you can record 16 plus tracks depending on your choice of gear. As I recall reading, a sequencer on a synthesizer is like an electronic tape recorder, no tape of course. So a synthesizer acts like a DAW in that you can recorder several tracks and then play them back according to the range or the synth.

So if you by a multitrack digital recorder, you can control each track and its dynamics and you blend them all together. I don't know if a sequencer on a synth will let you mess with each track too much.

Some of what I said above comes from a Craig Anderton article about sequencers, or at least what I can remember after two Martinis.
