Hi :) Im really new at this whole thing and have no clue what Im doing. After looking around and posting a few things i think i have a clue. I think i need computer interface and a DAW, but that brings up the question of which ones. I really like the Tascam US-1641 and reaper but thats because i have no clue what else is out there. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks

There are tons to choose from. You need to determine your needs before deciding what gear to buy. Don't spend money until you have a plan. Do form a plan until you educate yourself.
If you don't have a clue, you'll need to get one before you waste money buying equipment that won't match your needs. So, you can start by reading. Reading everything here in the Newbs section, then order some books and go through them. You'll get an idea of what will work for you.

Everyone is different and has different situations for recording. What might work for me may not work for you. This is why it's difficult for people to give specific advice.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself:

What kind of music do you want to record?
How many instruments, players, singers, etc?
What is the max number of inputs needed? (might be less than you think)
Do you have a suitable space for recording/mixing?
Room treatment? (Best investment)
What's your budget?
Will your computer handle your requirements?
What quality or end result to you hope to achieve?

Start by reading, browsing and searching.... lots to learn.
