Hello boys and girls, I'm a neewbee here and I need some advice.

I own a M-audio firewire 1814 soundcard wich is working fine, but with only 2 pre amps Im looking for something bigger now. I'm thinking about getting the M-audio projectmix I/O, that already has a firewire 1814 in it. So my question is should i get the projectmix (or something similar) or should i keep the firewire 1814 and buy some pre amps and build my self a rack. If I dont buy the projectmix wont I need some sort of a mixer.

If someone has any comments about the projectmix I'd love to here them.
Or if someone would like to recommend some other DAW, please do.

Hey: I've changed my mind. Just had a look at what you want to buy.
If you can afford it, go for it. :drunk:

To answer the rest of your question.
"No" You don't need some kind of a mixer.
You need an Audio interface.
The DAW you will be using has the mixer built in but here's the thing;
That unit you are looking at will act as a control surface so you will have a mixer at your fingertips for the DAW. It also has ADAT so the Behringer would still work for you if you wanted to add 8 more channels.
If you want to record on a computer as opposed to a stand alone recorder and you can afford that interface, then I am never going to try and talk you out of it.
