data transfer from Boss BR 8 to computer or VS2480

I need Ideas to transfer data from a Boss BR 8 to computer or VS2480. My computer will not read the optical cable.
 
I have BR1180 & BR1600, only BR1600 has a usb connection, BR1180 has optical out like BR8 & I tried for ages looking for optical to usb or coaxial connection but had no luck so in the end I just transferred via cd onto PC for editing, hope this helps. You may want to send Boss an email also just to be sure.
 
The BR8 files can only be converted to wav files outside of the unit. I used a zip drive on my computer and the wav conversion software from Boss.
