Data storage for DAT recorder/player?

Anyone have experience using DAT or MD for storing computer data? WAV files are my biggest storage headache and I've got digital I/O to manage that but I was wondering if it's possible to store programs and other data as well on DAT or MD? WIN OS.

I think you're better off going with CD-R for wav file archiving. You can buy a dozen blank CD's for the price of one DAT tape.
 
That was quick! Thank you. Yeah, I'm trying to learn more about a PCMCIA or USB CD burner. I already have the DAT and MD and I was just curious if there's anyway to store "regular" data on those devices?
