DAT to what?

Hello everyone. I am a newbie and am not sure on a few things. I first would like to know how a DAT is connected to a 4 track. Also, as a person using a studio much for vocals,what is a smart limiter, effects box and noise gate to purchasE?Also what monitors are a smart purchase? Ans will a Shure SM58 mic be good for vocals and band together? Thanks to anyone who can help.

Amazingly a DAT is connected to a 4 track by only six degrees of separation!

If you're mixing down to your dat from your four track just do this: Connect the stereo outs on the four track to the line-ins on the DAT.
