Why would Motu increase the price of the 8Pre?
I bought one a year a go for 360 pounds and now its 429.99, im sure in not the only one who's slightly pissed. I want to buy another one but now my decision is swayed, I dont want to shell out more for something that should be that price in the first place. Any reason why seeming as everything seems to be falling in price they would turn the other way?

Thanks in advanced for any contributions!

The 8pre has ADAT-in right? Add a Behringer ADA8000 and you've got yourself another 8 channels at a fraction of the price of another 8pre. I had one hooked up to my 896HD and it was great until it fried itself, but it seems others have had better experiences with them. Its the one Behringer product I would recommend and the pre's on it are actually pretty good. Even if you bought another 8pre I would recommend daisy-chaining them through ADAT anyway as I've heard of many problems with running multiple firewire devices, so functionality-wise it would be the same. Note: you would be limited to 44.1k or 48k doing this.

I also hate Motu, but for different reasons. Its taken a new hard drive, a BIOS upgrade, a clean install of XP, a complete streamline of that install, a bit of IRQ swapping, some manual fiddling with the XP SP2 firewire drivers and a rollback of the Motu drivers to older ones... *just* to get my 896HD to a usable level (no clicks, pops, interruptions or stability problems) at fairly 'modest' (eh hum, rubbish) sample rates and buffer settings. And yes, my laptop and computer have the recommended TI chipset. My old Edirol FA-101 had no such problems, even running at 96k with stupidly low buffer settings and on a really old laptop. Come on Motu, give us some decent Windows drivers.

Thats odd because I've never had a problem with the motu equipment I use its just im
really bummed that they've increased the price. I get put off by the limitations of the
behringer thats why I stay with what I know and what I use!

But in all honesty I really like the 8pre thats why I want another and them increasing their price is not cool.

no problem here with motu.I ve had 2 2408mk3's for 5 years or so. windows xp, sp2.No problems ever.

aviv, you mention the price of the 8pre in pounds, so I assume you are in the UK. There are all sorts of factors that come into play, including currency exchange rates and any additional taxes or surcharges your country might be putting on imports.

If you follow the news, you know that there is a *major* worldwide financial upheaval going on at this time. What you read about in the news is things that *will* directly affect your life. i.e. what it costs to buy things.

Either way, count your blessings - I usually get really pissed when the price of something I recently purchased drops significantly.
