I have a DM5 and a D4 that I use as a "drummer" in live performances. Of course, I can control the volume of each individual drum via my computer. However, I am interested in recording some of my songs using my M-Audio 1010 LT audio interface. I would like to have each individual drum sound from the D4 recorded to a separate audio track. Does anybody know if there is a way to do this with a D4 (or a DM5) without having to do a separate take for each drum? (In other words, record each drum simultaneously, but to a different track). Thanks!

I don't think so unless you sacrifice and do a stereo mix YUK!

You are going to need an interface with 8 inputs. Inputs other that RCA.

The DM5 only has 4 outputs anyway so unless you're only using 4 sounds, you're going to have to do multiple passes any way. I used to send the kick to ch1 the snare to ch 2 and then the toms and cymbals to 3&4 (stereo) was good enough to be able to bring up kick or snare as needed and not have the washyness of the cyms get in the way.
