Does anyone know how well the AD/DA converters stand up against, for instance, MOTU 1296?

I'm planning on buying the D2424 within a month or two. Is 24bit/48khz the highest resolution if I wanna use all 24 channels?

Thanks.

I believe it uses the same AKM converters as my D1624. They are quite usable, and even better when driven with a clean house clock source. I have no problems whatsoever with the converters in my Fostex.

It appears that you will only get recording/reproduce on 8 channels at rates greater than 48kHz:

http://www.fostex.co.jp/int/hdlist/media.html (scroll down to "Recording Mode Chart" about 3/4 of the way down the page).

So yes, 24bit/48kHz is the max you can do if you need all 24 tracks. I don't think that you'll find it to be a big problem, though: 24/48 sounds very nice on these boxes...

If I had it to do again, I'd buy the 2424, which came out within just a couple months of me getting my first 1624. I've had very good results with both my 1624s. You'll like the Hammerfall card, too...
