D1600 EDIT Quest.

Hi,

At the stage of track editing on Korg D1600.
Just wondering what "Optimize" function does literally and what effect that has on the sound. Description given in manual is very poor and I can't seem to hear much (if any) change in sound after a couple of experiments I have done.

Optimize

This i show i understand it. When recording digital audio, files and info sometimes gets scattered. The optimize function basically cleans up the scattered files which in turn frees up hard drive space. I have never heard a difference in audio after optimizing.

I has a hunch that optimize was like a "defrag" but thought that the unit would provide a optimize function for an entire hard drive instead of track by track. But does sound like that's the function of it...
