I've know for a while that at least the big 2 cymbal manufacturers had some type of soundbites you could listen to of their different models of cymbal, so there's a tip for folks who want samples if you didn't already know.
I linked out from an ebay auction for a cymbal to find this site : cymbalsonly.com
What is cool about it, is that it has samples of the cymbals that are for sale, which all look to be Turkish, which I think is also pretty cool since you can't audition those at your local GC or SMash stores, and even my local drum shop rarely has any Istanbuls in.
The samples are performed pretty tight, and appear to be recorded really well (at least to my ears and funky monitoring system). Each cymbal usually has a couple of smokin jazz beats along with the a capella samples. I downloaded a couple of the beats just as a jazz riff study because they are THAT GOOD!
I think I may get my next cymbal from these guys, but if you beat me to it, let me know how it turns out- cool?
