hi there, thanks for reading this. i have just had to get a new system h/drive cos my old one broke. anyway after reinstalling cakewalk pa9 when i record audio or import new audio clips cakewalk takes ages to draw the wavforms-it never used to do this before tho. its only about 20-30 secs but this adds a lot of time on to my work! it even takes this long on clips that are really short.
if anyone can help i would be very grateful
thanks in advance

I recall reading on the Sonar newsgroup that the setting for PicCache in the aud.ini file can have an influence on this. There was some debate on what the best settings were, and I don't remember what some of the recommendations were.

You might try playing with different settings and see if you get any improvement. Or you could try and locate the thread on the Sonar newsgroup (news.cakewalk.com product.sonar).

can't be the aud.ini settings...

thanks for the reply;) i checked the aud.ini file and there are 2 settings relating to drawing audio- picture cache and directory. the cache is set to 20mb so this can't be the problem as it takes ages to draw a wav clip if i start a brand new track and then import it. any other suggestions much appreciated.
my aud.ini is listed below just in case i missed something obvious.

DataDir=C:\wavedata
PictureDir=C:\PROGRAM FILES\CAKEWALK\CAKEWALK PRO AUDIO 9\Picture Cache
