Anyone had their pickups handmade from one of the big manufacturers? Just wondering what the experience was like and if you were happy with the results.
I am talking to the Seymour Duncan folks about a custom pickup I am interested in having built for my 72 tele. I lost the original Seth Lover pickup years ago and kind of want a traditional rythm sound of a regular tele in the neck position. I want to find a really authentic sound but also have it a humbucker instead of a single coil when I want to cook things up. Then I can shut down one of the coils to get the traditional sound but turn both on, parallel, series etc.
The cost to have it hand built seems reasonable at around $225 for a self designed peice. Anyone have any experiences with this?
