Just wonder if all the artists or bands in myspace.com have the copyright for their songs. (i know the site require them to have the copyright, but do they really have it?)

ps: this question doesn't include the artists or bands that already have their record label.

If you write a song you already own the copyright by definition. Registering songs with whomever is a means to (a) prove ownership in case of dispute, and / or (b) to aid the collection of royalties if the song is covered.

You are the de facto owner of your compositions, and the copyright thereto, irrespective of any registration process.

Regards

But most of the bands I know who happen to have myspaces have never bothered to get their stuff registered. I've got all mine done, though.

I'd say yes. But maybe not registered with the LOC.[/QUOT

what is LOC?

Lib of Congress prob. But thats not who you have to register with. There is a US Copyright office. The LOC of just keeps it on file

Ja. One registers by getting the SR form from the Library of Congress's website and sending that in to the Library of Congress, Copyright office.
