Do any of the versions of cubase have asignable outs?...eg; not just stereo....more than two like.....Cheers....

I don't know about Cubasis, but ALL versions of Cubase have assignable outputs - at least any released in the last few years. I think with VST5.1 you have at least 8 output busses available.

Chris

Hey Chris....Thanks man!....Question though...I've now Cubase VST32 V.5 , Do ya know if that has assignable outs?...If so, how do I access them....Cheers man...!

As I said, I think it has at least 8 assignable outputs. This is, of course, dependent on your hardware (ie. soundcard) being set up properly within Cubase so that the program "knows" that they are there.

At the bottom of each channel, there is, by default, the word "master" which tells you that the channel is routed to the master bus. Click on that, and it will give you other options to where the audio can be sent (ex. aux 3, or whatever...)

Chris

OK.....I've found the assignable groups down the bottom and it gives me the option to go to mast or 8 groups (I've a ST Audio C-Port) but when I click on say group 3 it doesn't move, it still routs to the master.....What am I doin' wrong?....Do I need to set it up again?....Sorry 'bout all the questions and thanks alot for the help!!!

HOw many outputs does you C-Port card have? Have you enabled all of them so that Cubase recognizes them?

The fact that it won't even route to the subgroups, which then go to the master is a little strange..... Dunno what to tell you there.

Chris

The C-Port has 8 outs on it....Mabey I didn't set it up properly....Wheree do I do that?

If I remember correctly go to the VIEW window and view the MASTER track, there's a slide bar on the bottom when it comes up. If your card is set up properly all outputs should be in this master section. You just have to activate them.

Ahhh...Ok, the computer nearly went out the window about 10 minute ago....Alright....For an easy example right, I've got 1 track recorded and I want to rout the signal to (lets just say) the eighth output of my sound card (which is goin' into my desk) where do I have to go and how do I do it?....Sorry again 'bout being a digi-dope....

PS, coudn't find the VIEW window...

And....Just as a side not....I can rout the master out to any 2 of the eight outs on my soundcard )ST Audio C-Port) so it seams the card is being recognized, but I still can't send any of the individual tracks to other outputs of the cards....

at the top of the screen look for PANELS. In the drop down menu select VST MASTER MIXER

When this opens up grab the right bottom corner with your mouse and pull it to the right. This will open up the bus section and from there you can route to each output of your soundcard.

I'm not sure if this is what you're trying to do but I don't think there's a way to direct each seperate channel out without it going through the bus section first.

If I'm wrong someone please correct me. And if in doubt RTFM ;)

Alec.

Ok..I with ya...Now how do I rout any of the channels (on the chanell mixer) to the busses?...Cheers...We'll get there yet! :)

underneath the sliders on the main mixing console is a place to assign outputs - I think you get a dropdown that gives you all your availabnle choices. "Main" is the default, I think.

Ahhhh....Got it...I just had to activate the busses them selves before I could choose them on the menu pulldown you just distcribed....Thanks again everyone...you're all great!
