Cubase with two Motu 828MkII's

Help!!!

I just hooked up a second Motu 828 MkII, and all seems good, until I fire up cubase. One or the other (whichever one is NOT set as the clock source) will not function (no I/O). Also, the one not functioning has the sample rate blinking on the front. I am at a loss. If I shut Cubase off, it stops blinking, and both interfaces I/o starts working again.

What am I missing?!?!?!?!?

Have you tried connecting the slave unit to the word clock out of the other?
Set the one to internal and the other to word clock in.
That's about all I can think of. Other than asking Steinberg support.

I just realized it's not a Cubase issue. If I open up the MOTU control Panel, it starts doing the same thing.
