Cubase VST vs. Vegas Pro vs. Cakewalk pro 9

I am shopping around for a full-featured yet relatively easy to learn multitrack recording program. I need something that has at least 16 tracks, user friendly windows, and access to lots of plug-in if they aren't included. any advice? don't really care about video editing or scoring.

Vegas Pro is the only one you mentioned that I have extensively used, but it's great. Definitely the most intuitive software multitracker I've ever seen. I still haven't needed to use the help to do anything.

I'd have to give Cool Edit Pro the highest recommendation, though I haven't used Vegas. CEP is extremely easy and mostly intuitive. It includes a huge set of effects right out of the box and supports DirectX plugins.
