Hi Folks:
I've had Cubase VST 32 hooked up for about a year and a half now but have been doing all of my editing on Mixcraft. I pop in once in a while and play around with it but I do find the software to be somewhat, complicated. I also have the "Getting Started" manual so no excuses for not learning if I have to.
My question is simple enough.
Is this software worth the time and effort. I know it's old but if it's really worth it, I'll do it.
I also have Samplitude Magix (MS 10) and Cubase 4 LE, neither of which I'm using.
Thanks for the advice.

If you don't need more than 64 tracks, I'd start using Cubase 4 LE instead. Sure, it's the stripped down version of Cubase SX family, but the editing functions and workflow are much more flexible in the later versions. I started out with VST. Probably the biggest thing that I like about the newer versions is that edits done in the audio editor are non-destructive and you can undo stuff that you've done. Too many times I've edited something in VST that I had forgotten that I was using somewhere else, but since the edits were permanent on the audio file itself it would affect everything else that was using the same thing.

I uninstalled the VST 32 and went with the Cubase 4 LE.
Managed to activate it perfectly this time. According to my transactions with Steinberg, I've had it for just over a year but it looks a lot simpler now than it did back then.:D

Cool man. I am sure it will work out for you :) Yeah, it does look a bit strange at first, but then things start clicking in. I had to unlearn and re-learn some stuff when switching from VST to SX2, but it definitely is a better thought out environment.

I watched a YouTube tutorial and managed to get some midi instruments playing.(Well one actually and I can't change it)
Not nearly as easy as Mixcraft but it will work out.

Well, I suppose its too late now, but I STILL use VST 32, and I love it. Always afraid of the upgrade though, the relearning for me is very intimidating. I tried SX 1.0 for a while and trashed it... Not saying it isn't any good- but I am glad to know the LE4 has the non destructive edits- because that is an issue I have with the old VST. How much learning would I have to do if I went with LE4?
