Cubase Synths

I may sound like an idiot but how the hell do u use computer synths, can u not just the sound from the computer to make a track or do u have to record in with something

you can use the soundcards sounds triggered via midi or keyboard step entry.
are you referring to Cubase virtual instruments ?
