yes I am an idiot with this stuff.

with that being said, is there a way to hook up creative labs 5.1 speakers to the EMu-1212? they are the only speakers I have right now.

if so, how do I get sound out of them? I can't even figure out how to get sound out of headphones with this thing. I don't have the audiodock. there is a 1/4in Left output, and a 1/4in right output...then the other card has an SPDIF in and out. 5.1 setups have the front back and center (subwoofer). if I can only use the front and the sub, thats fine, I just want some sound. I get really confused with the setting up the ins and outs in cubase, and don't really understand the stuff in device set up under the VST instruments. I used to get sound before I bought this damn card, and after 10 hours of hell today, I want to smash it.

I know the card is decent, I just don't know how to hook it up. I put the drivers in, and have the cards instaled, but there doesn't seem to be ways to hook my speakers up.

The 1212m doesn't have surround on it best you with get is L/R. You are also going to have to setup Patchmix to hear anything. Check your manual.

I can't even find a manual

i bought it refurbished from ebay's creative store. the only things that came with the emu unite were the getting started and the "important read before installing pamplet." I see on the box that the patchwork stuff is there, but I was wondering if it was on the disc with the drivers, or the disc with the software bundle. I have been weary of installing the software bundle becasue I have the full cubase version, and the full versions of a few other programs on there, and don't want there to be a conflict on my comp.

so is the patchwork stuff on the driver dis, or the software bundle?
