Cubase sx3 and m audio 2496 problem, no sound

Hi people. my first post on here

Hope you can help me.

I have just done a clean install of xp sp2.

I have installed my m audio delta 2496 card which is playing sound in media player etc.

I have just tried cubase and there is no sound coming from it, the vst setup is set to m audio delta asio, so I don't get why it won't play.

I have tried changing to the other options but cubase stops responding.

I have turned off on board sound ext in bios but in the device manager it's showing as unkown device. I don't think this should effect playback in cubase though.

Are you running the Delta Control Panel?

I'm not sure that applies 'cause I use Cubase SX3 & 4 with a Delta 1010LT card.

There's some settings in there, like if Out 1& 2 is from the Monitor Mixer, Out 1 &2 or somewhere else. Plus the monitor settings.

Yes had one of those years and years ago, you need to have the delta control panel.
